In the embrace of life, beyond death. Anthropological and spiritual aspects of prose by Lyudmila Ulitskaya (The Kukotsky Enigma, Daniel Stein, Intepreter)

The aim of this article is to attempt to identify the anthropological and spiritual aspects of the prose by Lyudmila Ulitskaya, from the perspective of the future. A literary hero becomes a semantic carrier as well as a representative of the human condition and our spiritual reality as expressed in the reflections of the author. Ulitskaya builds portraits of those who are immersed in the future trying to read the signs of the times. The heroes of her novels, therefore, are often mystics, prophets, and seers. The future reveals the true moral state of the modern human; it is a pretext for an existential reflection. A soulful man, according to Ulitskaya, can catch a glimpse of the future, but his affiliation to the realm of the immaterial sphere determines his openness to all that is sacred, which is love, according to the author. It is love that gives us a depth of understanding; it allows mystics to decode secrets of life and it shapes the future.718
