p-Coumaric acid (PC), a naturally occurring phytochemical, possesses antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties; however, the mechanisms underlying its protective effects against obesity-related metabolic dysfunction are largely unknown. Here, we treated C57BL/6J mice to a high-fat diet (HFD) with or without PC (10 mg/kg body weight/day) for 16 weeks to determine whether PC ameliorates HFD-induced obesity, insulin resistance, inflammation, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).
