Literature reviews of social capital theories and measurements

This paper reviews the literature on social capital in order to theoretically propose a framework for research on this issue. Though social capital is a multi-dimensional construct with a disputable common definition, a review shows a widely accepted view that social capital is a formative construct with two components: i) structural (network) and cognitive (trust). In addition, the classification of social capital results in its different roles.
