Religion as a value during the pandemic. Sociological analysis

Objectives This work presents the results of sociological research carried out by the staff of the Polish Research Laboratory for the Assessment of Attitudes and Values. Its title is “University Students on Family and Religion 2020” . Within the multi-stranded research applications, one thematic segment pertained to the religious attitudes of university students during the pandemic. From the perspective of religious experience, a component of the sociological model in researching religiosity, this work reveals the attitude of the respondents to religion as a value in general, but also a value which makes sense of human life. Here, we find an answer to the question of bonding with God without the Church as a religious institution, as well as the perception of the pandemic whether as a biological phenomenon or as a punishment for sins. Material and methods Team quantitative research conducted using the CAWI method Results Results: boundary and correlation data (general and partial) based on dependent and independent variables quantitative research carried out using the CAWI method Conclusions The questioned academic youth in the course of the conducted research reacted differently to the statements made, and this differentiation often had its own environmental conditions, e.g. higher urbanization (place of origin) and a higher level of parents' education, accompanied by a greater distance to religion and what it entails. This trend can already be considered permanent. In addition, one can get the impression that religious capital - which consists of values and norms passed on by religious institutions and still by the family circle - no longer has the character of a permanent resource, because with growing up and acquired experience it takes on a labile form
