This project proposes an hardware implementation of a CNN (Cellular Neural Network), a type of neural network that emphasizes locality by allowing each cell to be directly connected only to other cells in its vicinity. This reduces the complexity related to the interconnections between cells, and allows the CNN to be a very suitable architecture for hardware implementation.The concept of Cellular Neural Networks was proposed by Leon O. Chua and Lin Yang in 1988, and it has ever since seen only relatively modest but promising improvements.
