Efectos a nivel lumbar de los trabajadores al empujar coches cargados de palma africana

According to the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work, work-related musculoskeletal disorders are changes in body structures such as: muscles, joints, tendons, ligaments, nerves, bones, and the circulatory system, fundamentally due to the effect of the work conditions and its environment. The objective of this study was to evaluate whether when pushing rail cars loaded with fresh fruit bunches in the sterilization area causes effect on workers’ lumbar spine. The study consisted of a descriptive study through direct observation, with the aid of the OWAS method and a specific medical examination to 45 workers. Several working positions when pushing the cars to the autoclaves were identified: General work position, spine position, arms position, and load or force exerted. The medical examination starting with the test of Lasegue reported positive for 22% of workers, whilst 78% reported negative; in the same way, reversed Lasegue maneuver; whereas Bragard’s sign showed 7% and 93% for positive and negative respectively. Therefore, the load exerted for the identified positions have significant negative effects on the musculoskeletal system at lumbarLos trastornos músculo-esqueléticos (TME) de origen laboral, según la Agencia Europea para la Seguridad y la Salud en el Trabajo, son alteraciones que sufren estructuras corporales como: músculos, articulaciones, tendones, ligamentos, nervios, huesos y el sistema circulatorio, fundamentalmente, por el trabajo y los efectos del entorno en el que se desarrolla. El objetivo de esta investigación fue evaluar si al empujar coches de palma africana se ocasionan efectos en la región lumbar de los trabajadores en el área de esterilización. El trabajo consistió en un estudio descriptivo por medio de la observación directa, con la ayuda del método de OWAS y examen médico específico a 45 trabajadores. Se identificó las diversas posiciones que adopta el trabajador al empujar los coches hasta los autoclaves: posición o postura general de trabajo, posición de la columna, brazos y carga o fuerza realizada. El análisis médico específico iniciado con el Test de Lasegue reportó que el 22% de los trabajadores dio un resultado positivo, mientras que el 78% resultó negativo; al igual que la maniobra de Lasegue invertido; mientras que el Signo de Bragard reportó que un 7% resultó positivo y el 93% negativo. Por lo tanto la carga causada por las posturas identificadas tienen efectos negativos sobre el sistema músculo-esquelético a nivel lumbar de manera significativa
