Ziele: Eine tägliche Überversorgung an Natrium (Na+) in Form von industriell verarbeiteten Lebensmitteln sowie eine hyperkalorische Ernährung kann schon frühzeitig den Grundstein legen für chronische Erkrankungen wie arterielle Hypertonie und Diabetes mellitus. Angesichts der hohen Morbidität und Mortalität im Rahmen ihrer kardiovaskulären Folgeerkrankungen sollten in diesem Zusammenhang vor allem präventive Maßnahmen eine zentrale Rolle spielen. Auch wenn Na+ als pathogenetischer Faktor bereits diskutiert wird, ist eine genaue Kausalität bisher nicht belegt.
