The Rank-Size Rule is one of the method of analyzing total settlement networks in a region. Hence it is a tool for analyzing the national settlement system and helps in the description and interpretation of the relationship between rank and population size of urban places. When one looks into the various sizes of urban places in an area, it is commonly observed that there are a few large cities, many medium sized and host of small centre’s. This trend is universal and can be observed at national and regional levels.
