Seguimiento de las estrategias de comunicación digital de los sitios web en los hospitales de América Latina durante la pandemia de COVID-19

10 páginasSince the advent of the Internet, websites have become the nerve center of the digital ecosystems of media, companies and all kinds of institutions. Currently, the impact of the global coronavirus pandemic has placed healthcare issues at the center of social debate, including hospitals and their websites as digital sources of trustworthy information. COVID-19 has intensified the need for quality information and the legitimacy of sources fighting the infodemic situation. In this regard hospitals become essential social actors in the spread of healthcare information. Within this framework, a qualitative study is presented with descriptive components and based on content analysis. This study examines 58 websites from the best hospitals included in the “América Economía” ranking health sector from Latin America. The study applies an analysis methodology based on previous research focusing on specialized web studies, defining an analysis model on six variables and 65 thematic indicators. The research concludes that hospitals occupying first positions in the medical services directory are not necessarily those that have the best websites. Similarly, it is worth noting that a quarter of the studied sample do not devote a specific space to reporting coronavirus information. Brazil, Colombia and Chile are the countries with the highest number of hospitals among those with the best websites. In conclusion, digital media, specifically websites, could constitute legitime resources of healthcare information consumption, so their accuracy and proper development seem to be significant to become genuine sources that not only could provide better healthcare services but help avoid the spread of misinformation about the COVID-19 pandemic.Desde la irrupción de Internet, las páginas web se han convertido en el centro neurálgico de los ecosistemas digitales de medios de comunicación, empresas y todo tipo de instituciones. En la actualidad, el impacto de la pandemia mundial de coronavirus ha colocado los temas de salud en el centro del debate social, incluyendo a los hospitales y sus sitios web como fuentes digitales de información confiable. El COVID-19 ha intensificado la necesidad de información de calidad y la legitimidad de las fuentes que combaten la infodemiasituación. En este sentido, los hospitales se convierten en actores sociales esenciales en la difusión de información sanitaria. En este marco, se presenta un estudio cualitativo con componentes descriptivos y basado en el análisis de contenido. Este estudio examina 58 sitios web de los mejores hospitales incluidos en el ranking “América Economía” del sector salud de América Latina. El estudio aplica una metodología de análisis basada en investigaciones previas centradas en estudios web especializados, definiendo un modelo de análisis sobre seis variables y 65 indicadores temáticos. La investigación concluye que los hospitales que ocupan los primeros puestos en el directorio de servicios médicos no son necesariamente los que cuentan con los mejores sitios web. Del mismo modo, cabe señalar que una cuarta parte de la muestra estudiada no dedica un espacio específico a reportar información sobre el coronavirus. Brasil, Colombia y Chile son los países con mayor número de hospitales entre los que tienen mejores sitios web. En conclusión, los medios digitales, específicamente los sitios web, podrían constituir recursos legítimos de consumo de información sanitaria, por lo que su precisión y correcto desarrollo parecen ser importantes para convertirse en fuentes genuinas que no solo puedan brindar mejores servicios de salud sino ayudar a evitar la difusión de información errónea sobre el COVID. -19 pandemia
