Reaction sphere actuators are potential alternatives to momentum exchange devices for satellite attitude control. This paper proposes an analytical solution of electromagnetic field and torques in a novel reaction sphere actuator based on a magnetic levitated spherical induction motor. The electromagnetic field is analyzed based on magnetic vector potential and separation variable method. The general torque model of the reaction sphere actuator which consists of the driving torque generated by the rotating magnetic and the damping torque induced by the magnetic field for levitation is discussed. Three-dimensional finite element model is established to aid in the electromagnetic filed analysis and verification
