International audienceSecondary organic aerosols (SOAs), which are formed and transformed through complex physicochemical processes in the atmosphere, have attracted considerable attention over the past decades because of their impacts on both climate change and human health. Recently, 3-methyl-1,2,3-butanetricarboxylic acid (MBTCA), a low volatile, highly oxidized, secondary generation product of monoterpenes, is one of the most relevant tracer compounds for biogenic SOAs.
