Online teaching became the new normal during the year 2020-2021, not without any difficulties. Teachers and students had to embrace a new way of teaching and learning. Adding serious games, also called gamification, can be a solution to make the online class more dynamic and interactive. However, it is not a miraculous solution. The purpose of this essay is to introduce theoretical notions about gamification and game design and apply them to the context of online teaching with children.
