Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing : a series of 35MM color slides for sophomore level community college drafting majors

Includes bibliographical references.Includes illustrations.The problem with which this thesis was concerned was that commercial audio-visual materials, specifically 35 millimeter (mm) color slides, suitable for classroom use when teaching Technical Drafting III students geometric dimensioning and tolerancing at Waubonsee Community College, were not available. In order to eliminate this problem, a series of 35 mm color slides were produced. Each slide was produced from an original drawing, in color, which had been drawn on by 11 inch sheets of drawing paper. Each drawing was photographed on a copy stand with a 35 mm camera and the film was commercially developed. The 101 35 mm color slides that were produced covered all existing form tolerances, positional tolerances, datum features and a variety of hole patterns. Each drawing and subsequent slide were evaluated against a series of project parameters. The project parameters were developed and served to guide the production of the drawings and led to the selection of the 35 mm color slide format. The production of the 35 mm color slides will form the basis for future study in this area. A possible future study might involve the statistical determination of what effects the 35 mm color slides have had on the students' mastery of the competencies associated with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.M.S.
