Includes bibliographical references.Includes illustrations. The synchroton storage ring at the Physical Science Laboratory of the University of Wisconsin was used as a source of UV radiation for performing photoemission spectroscopy of crystalline and amorphous Sb₂Se₃. For crystalline Sb₂Se₃, the EDC's exhibited a polarization dependence. The EDC's for amorphous Sb₂Se₃ differed as compared to the crystalline. Photoemission data was compared with optical measurements in the same energy range and similarities were noted. The experimental results were then compared to the valence band approach since no band structure calculation has been attempted on Sb₂Se₃ or similar orthorhombic V-VI compounds.M.S.
