Library automation as a source of management information: Papers presented at the 1982 Clinic on Library Applications of Data Processing

In the last twenty years, two of the most significant developments in the library field have been the increase in the adoption of automated procedures and growing interest in the measurement and evaluation of library services. Yet, the marriage of these two trends that is, the use of automated systems as sources of data to permit improved management and decision-making has not been a major focus of professional interest. The 1982 clinic sought to correct this situation by focusing attention on the management information component of automated systems in libraries.
