The Babylonian cuneiform sources allow us to identify and study the flows of workers and goods from Babylonia to the various royal residences of the Persian power located on the Persian Gulf, in Elam, Persia, Media and also in Babylonia. Part of these flows was polarized by the Great King himself and his court. Thus, the more or less regular movement of the Persian king between the provinces of the western part of Iran and Babylonia entailed the obligation for the province to bring foodstuffs and silver to the royal residences.
