Background and objectives: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a pulmonary disease which is becoming more and more frequent in France, with 3,5 millions of people affected. This pathology has a certain impact on patients’ quality life, their exercise tolerance and it causes a fast physical and psychological deterioration. The purpose of this review was to look for an additional treatment to COPD patients care in their rehabilitation program (RP). Neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) seems to have a part in this specific rehabilitation.
