No one ever said that part of the job of a young adult librarian would be fund-raising. I took all the courses needed to best serve young people but mention was never made in any course, by any teacher, of how one goes about getting funding for programs and materials that are not included in the regular library budget. Nor did anyone ever suggest that, in fact, that is part of a librarian's job. Evidently no one predicted that it would be necessary.
