National audienceDeafness is asensory deficit marked primarily by a language deficit. Unlike what has long been accepted, deaf people can benefit from music to improve their language skills. This relation ship between musicand deafness has been studied for a number of years. As a reminder, the theme "music and deafness" has been choose during the regional study day organized by the Institute of Music Therapy of Nantes in 1994.
