The populous mid-Medjerda basin in Tunisia, is highly exposed to the dangers of flooding and water stagnation. The causes are twofold: on the one hand, favorable pluvio-hydrological and topo-geological conditions of the natural environment, and modes of occupation and land use (buildings, dams, etc.), which do not always meet these conditions, on the other. The study of rain and river risks, through a systemic and diachronic approach, reveals important developments and adverse consequences on both the environmental and human levels. The morphostratigraphic examination of the sedimentary archives shows that the activity of running water is at the origin of models, often of alluvial cone, terrace and bank, of historic age.
