This work focused on biocides used in building materials and on their transfer to the aquatic environment. The aims of this study were (i) to identify biocide substances that are used in building materials and that are emitted in runoff by leaching, (ii) to study their dynamics in urban waters (wastewater treatment plant influents and effluents, stormwater, combined sewer overflows) and surface waters in Paris conurbation, and (iii) to prioritize emission sources to the aquatic environment.Based on the biocide emissions, the exposition of the aquatic organisms, ecotoxicity and technical feasibility, a methodology of prioritization was developed.
