International audienceIntroduction. – The aim of this study was to measure the effects of several weeks of hospitalization on the resting cardiac parameters in soccer players.Methods and results. – Echocardiography at rest were carried out before and after rehabilitation at 5 weeks of intervals in 12 soccers players who had underwent surgical repair for rebuilding of the anterior curiate ligament of the knee. After hospitalization, end diastolic volume, stroke volume and cardiac output were significantly reduced (P < 0.05) by 15, 20 and 16% respectively.Conclusion. – Five weeks of hospitalization induce a cardiac unsuitability.
