The purpose of this research is to determine clinically the amount of force that is required to vertically dislodge a maxillary denture made of four different denture base materials. The materials used are cast aluminum alloy, cast chrome-cobalt alloy, cast gold alloy, and acrylic resin. From this experiment, one will be able to conclude which one of the four denture bases has the best intra-oral retention. Previous to the time of this research, the author has not been able to find any published results concerning the retention of different denture base materials based on intra-oral experiments
