The North Atlantic Treaty was not made with the intention of limiting its membership to the original Parties that made up the North Atlantic Alliance in 1949. This Article seeks to address the importance of the authority that Article 10 grants the North Atlantic Alliance to invite new parties to the treaty that uphold the ideas and values it was founded upon. This Article addresses the negotiations and intent of the drafters when coming together to create Article 10.
