Reasons for non-participation in school-based dengue vaccination program in GMA, Cavite

This study used descriptive survey research method with a sample size of 263 parents/guardians of children aging nine(9) years and above who were enrolled in Grade IV for the School Year 2015-2016 and was eligible for the School-Based Dengue Vaccination Program offered by the government of General Mariano Alvarez, Cavite but did not avail the vaccine. The respondents were chosen through convenience sampling. The researchers used a self-made questionnaire. Frequency distribution was used to treat the data gathered. Conclusion: Based on the findings of the study, the following conclusions were drawn: 1. Most common reasons for the non-participation in school-based dengue vaccination program included (a) lack of knowledge in dengue vaccination schedule, (b) doubt on the effectiveness of the dengue vaccine, (c) unaware of any promotions or ads on the dengue vaccination program and negative rumor related to dengue vaccine, and (d) development of disease after vaccination. 2. Other reasons for the non-participation in school-based dengue vaccination program included children being absent during vaccination, afraid of vaccination, and allergy to vaccine
