Sexual behavior of adoslecents: a self-assessment and as perceived by their parents

This study utilized a descriptive/comparative survey research design. Using purposive sampling technique, 50 adolescents, were 25 students are third year and 25 students are fourth year, and 50 parents were also included, 25 parents of the third year students and 25 parents of the fourth year students. The study was limited to students living with their parents. Data was gathered through a standardized questionnaire, which was adopted and modified to fit the study. The statistical treatments utilized in data analysis were mean and Pearson’s r. The study concluded that, 1) The variables body image concerns, sexual knowledge, sexual interests, risky behavior/misuse and deviant sexual behavior do not affect the sexual behaviors of adolescence, indicated by the average mean level of 0.55; 2) The variables body image concerns, sexual knowledge, sexual interests, risky behavior/misuse and deviant sexual behavior do not affect the sexual behaviors of adolescence as perceived by their parents as indicated by the mean level of 0.49; 3) The overall obtained r of -0.02 means that there is a very small negative correlation. Therefore, there is no significant relationship between the sexual behaviors of adolescence based on self-assessment and as perceived by their parents
