Radiation protection attitude and practices among radiologic technologists in selected hospitals in Cavite

This study utilized a quantitative, non-experimental, correlational research design. Using the purposive sampling, this study included 116 radiologic technologists who were employed in either private or government hospitals categorized as level 3 or tertiary. The research instrument used were self-made questionnaires. This study also utilized frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test for independent means, One Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), Duncan\u27s multiple range test, Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient. The study concluded that, 1) majority of the respondents are male, aged 25 years old and below, and working in private hospitals for 1 year to 5 years; 2) the study revealed that the respondents have a very high positive attitude towards radiation protection. Provision of protective barriers, wearing of personal monitoring device when working in the department, and installation of a red warning light bulb outside the examination room, are the items which received the highest mean rating form the respondents; 3) the radiation protection practices of the respondents are practiced to a very great extent. Staying behind the protective barriers, checking the factors, collimation and position of patient and collimation of the area of interest to minimize scatter radiation, are some of the items practice a very great extent by the respondents; 4) the attitude towards radiation protection did not significantly vary according to age, gender, length of service and type of hospital; 5) the practices towards radiation protection did not significantly differ according to age, gender, length of service and type of hospital; 6) attitude and practices towards radiation protection are significantly related as the radiation protection attitude influences the practices towards it
