Child rearing practices of mothers with school age children in Malagasang II Imus City, Cavite

This study utilized a non-experimental, descriptive type of research. One hundred twenty six (126) mothers with children ages from 6-12 years old without gender specifications and incapacity or disability, was included in the study and was taken from selected barangays of Malagasang IID, IIE and IIG Imus City, Cavite through the use of purposive sampling. The researchers used a modified-adapted questionnaire for data gathering. Data was analysed using frequency and percentage distribution, mean, t-test, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and f-test. Majority of the mothers with school age children are 19 to 35 years old, eldest in the family, high school graduates, Catholic, married with two children, has nuclear type of family, unemployed, has monthly income of less than 10,000 and originally from Luzon. The child rearing practices of mothers to school age children has been very good and considered the biophysical, psychophysical, and psychosocial needs of the child. There was no significant differences on the child rearing practices of mothers with school age children when grouped according to monthly income, ordinal position, and number of children, religion, and place of origin. However, there was significant difference when mothers were grouped according to age, educational attainment, employment status, family structure and civil status
