Supernumerary tooth impacted in the previous region of the maxilar. Case Report

Introducción: Los dientes supernumerarios se consideran un trastorno o anomalía numérica. Esta anomalía puede causar impactaciones, diastema, erupción ectópica, quistes, entre otros.Caso Clínico: Adolescente femenina de 13 años, acudió a la consulta odontológica por falta del diente frontal, se hicieron exámenes que constataran la agenesia del diente 21 y un elemento supernumerario incluso en región del maxilar. Se indicó el plan de tratamiento que consistió en un abordaje quirúrgico.Discusión: Los dientes supernumerarios se producen con mayor frecuencia en el maxilar. Puede impedir la erupción de permanentes adyacentes o causar erupción ectópica, conllevando a la mordida cruzada en la región y diastemas. Pese a que el plan inicial fue extraer el supernumerario y evaluar su posterior implantación en el sitio agenésico, no pudo concretarse ello debido a la angulación y presencia de raíces incompletas. Se optó por la remoción completa del supernumerario con indicación de ortodoncia y protésica.Introduction: Supernumerary teeth are considered a numerical disorder or anomaly. This anomaly can cause impacts, diastema, ectopic rash, cysts, among others.Clinical Case: Female adolescent of 13 years, went to the dental office for lack of the front tooth, examinations were made to verify the agenesis of tooth 21 and a supernumerary element even in the jaw region. The treatment plan that consisted of a surgical approach was indicated.Discussion: Supernumerary teeth occur most frequently in the maxilla. It can prevent the eruption of adjacent permanent or cause ectopic eruption, leading to crossbite in the region and diastema. Although the initial plan was to extract the supernumerary and evaluate its subsequent implantation in the agendasic site, it could not be achieved due to the angulation and presence of incomplete roots.
