The use of the Khan Academy virtual platform and the learning of mathematics in a private university of Peru

Se determinó la eficacia del método Khan Academy, tomando en cuenta los niveles de perseverancia de 24 estudiantes entre 19 y 20 años de edad del tercer ciclo de la facultad de Negocios en la asignatura de matemática de la Universidad Privada del Norte en el Perú. Para determinar los niveles de perseverancia de los participantes en este estudio, se utilizó un cuestionario especial modificado de la Escala de Likert debidamente validado y estandarizado. Los resultados evidencian que la plataforma Khan Academy cumple un rol facilitador en los aprendizajes de los estudiantes y el docente debe mediar en el proceso, motivando la perseverancia, ya que se ha demostrado que esta actitud es un factor importante para el éxito en el logro de las competencias en el área de las matemáticas. Palabras clave: Khan Academy; plataforma de enseñanza; enseñanza de las matemáticas.The effectiveness of the Khan Academy method was determined, taking into account the perseverance levels of 24 students between 19 and 20 years of age from the third cycle of the Business faculty in the subject of mathematics at the North Private University in Peru. In order to determine the perseverance levels of the participants in this study, a special questionnaire modified from the Likert Scale, duly validated and standardized, was used. The results show that the Khan Academy platform plays a facilitating role in student learning and that the teacher should mediate in the process, motivating perseverance, since it has been demonstrated that this attitude is an important factor for success in the achievement of competencies in the area of mathematics.
