This paper is an exposition on misconceptions and applications of the Golden Ratio. This is taken from the two articles Independent Sets and the Golden Ratio by William Staton and Clifton Wingard and Misconception About the Golden Ratio by George Markowsky which appeared in The College Mathematics Journals, Volume 26, No. 4, September 1995 and Volume 23, No. 1, January 1992 respectively. It discusses the independent sets in graphs and their relation to the famous golden ratio. It also discusses some misconceptions about golden ratio. The results were obtained using the concepts of Fibonacci sequence and Lucas sequence
