The study is aimed to discuss concepts on certain models of the queueing theory specifically those dealing with single-server with Poisson distribution for the rate of arrivals and an exponential distribution for the service times. In particular, it shows a relationship of the Poisson distribution with the exponential distribution and provides an example of a single-server with Poisson arrivals and exponential service times. The topics discussed include queueing theory (models and systems and the Poisson process), Poisson distribution and exponential distribution, single channel model and applications
