Remote patient monitoring through GSM

Remote patient monitoring is an application of biotelemetry wherein medical personnel can watch over their patients separated by long distances. However, in the Philippines, options for biotelemetry are limited and often expensive, oftentimes restricted to only one or two parameters of the patient being monitored with no means to send data automatically to the medical personnel. This study demonstrates the extension of biotelemetry to the mobile handset, a widespread device in the country. The system monitors four vital signs, heart rate, blood pressure, temperature and oxygen saturation and provides means to send messages containing the information on the aforementioned vital signs
