Adolescence deviant behavior, aggression and father involvement mediated by social support

This study analyzes the relationship between father involvement and the tendency of adolescents to engage in deviant behavior and aggression, with social support as a mediating factor. Participants in this study were 297 adolescents, 14-24 years of age. A correlation of all variables determined that father involvement and deviant behavior were insignificantly correlated, as well as father involvement and aggression. Father involvement and social support were significantly correlated along with deviant behavior and social support Aggression and social support. A partial correlation showed that when social support is controlled the relationship between father involvement and aggression remained insignificantly so as social support in factored out, the relationship between father involvement and deviant behavior is insignificant as well.
