Developing a business model from the integration of organizational strengths and generating cost-related strategies for the resources of KAISA KA

Non-Government Organizations have been actively responding to social issues in areas where the government is unable to provide proper services and support one of which is women empowerment. One of the major problems why certain NGOs have difficulty in growing is their lack of sustainable and scalable business models. Thus, the study is focused on business models but limits itself on that of KAISA KA, an NGO that ha its activities centered on women empowerment. Using various data gathering techniques and qualitative analysis, the study provides an improved business model and strategies addressing the concerns on costs and sustainability. The study obtained the necessary data through surveys, interviews, focus group discussions, and participant observation. The survey included 144 recognized member respondents. The interviews and FGDs were conducted with the leaders and representatives of the organization both from the national and local perspective. Through the various data gathering techniques applied, the research shows that economic sustainability is important even for non-profit organizations. Although KAISA KA focuses on providing intangible benefits, the achievement of certain goals is greatly affected by the economic stand of both the organization and its beneficiaries. Resources play a very important role in the operations of all NGOs. Thus, they would have to engage in economic activities to better achieve their goals. With the analysis of KAISA KA current strengths and weaknesses, certain cost related and profit generating strategies have been recommended to the organization. Along with these is a business model that includes the strengths of KAISA KA as well as improvements that could be integrated.
