The role of group membership in social identity formation is investigated. The study aims to answer the similarity and differences of organizational cultures and youth subcultures based on the norms, values and attitudes possessed by the group, as well as how these norms, values, and attitudes of affect the formation of the social identity of a member. To investigate the problem, four youths each from organizational culture groups and from youth subcultures groups were interviewed. Results show that organizational cultures and youth subcultures are different in terms of the quantity of the norms, values, and attitudes being imposed, and similar in terms of having a considerable effect on the social identity of the youths.
