Perceived effects of worklife balance and cultural orientation on the managerial skills of Filipino-Chinese businesswomen

This study explores the use of thematic analysis of the semi-structured face-to-face interviews to simultaneously investigate the perceived effects of worklife balance and cultural orientation on the managerial skills of a sample of Filipino-Chinese businesswomen (n=22), entrepreneur and/or holds a management position in a company, in Metro Manila. The results of the study found that the state of worklife balance and cultural orientation affects managerial skills at a certain degree. However, the findings revealed that the state of worklife balance and cultural orientation affects job performance greater than the managerial skills itself. Furthermore, the study interestingly suggests that the perception of worklife balance is greatly influenced by the cultural orientation of the respondents. The respondents\u27 state of worklife balance (Work t, Life i) is supported by their culture and above allj, by their families.
