This study on the history of Chinese-Filipino literature is undertaken to find out its dominant themes and to trace the development of Chinese literature written by Chinese-Filipino writers from 1988 (the year when the first Chinese daily newspaper was published in the Philippines) to 1987. This study hopes to achieve two objectives -- to enrich the field of research in Philippine literary history and to help promote understanding between the Filipinos and the Chinese in this country.
