Structural steel elements may be damaged due to excessive loads. This could be in time deflect or permanently deform. A design particularly intended to retrofit deflected beams was developed. The design provides an Exterior Post-Tensioning (EPT) design that enables a structural steel beam to be retrofitted after it reaches conditions beyond its yield point.This study consists of a test wherein the beam is tested without and with EPT, respectively. Analysis of data through graphs and tables were presented and the effectiveness of the exterior post-tensioning was measured.
