Marital adjustment of Filipino newlyweds

This study focused on the marital adjustment experience by newlywed husbands and wives. In relation to this, factors such as personality, family influences, occupational status, division of labor, and residence were also investigated. The study is qualitative in nature and in-depth interviews were conducted to gather essential data for the study. The data gathered were analyzed using pre-existing coding categories. Results showed that there were similar marital adjustments between husbands and wives. On the other hand, the gender roles in the society resulted to the differences in their marital adjustments. Factors such as personality, family influences, occupational status, division of labor, residence, religiosity, and pre-marital education were found to affect the newlyweds\u27 marital adjustment
