The effects of type of music, music preference and tension on reading comprehension

This study is about the effects of types of music, music preference and tension on reading comprehension using a 2 x 2 x 3 factorial design. The researchers made use of Genpsyc La Salle students. The researchers first conducted a pilot study on the time pressure to be induced, and found out that 15 minutes time pressure can induce tension. A survey study was conducted to find out what type of music is that most preferred and the least preferred. Thus, country music and rock music was to be used in the actual study. After the actual study had been conducted, the data was subjected to a stepwise regression analysis. The results showed that types of music, music preferences, and tension, individually and interactingly, has no significant effect on reading comprehension
