A correlation between religiosity and personality traits among conventional Protestant church goers

This study was conducted to find out the correlation between religiosity and personality traits. With the use of clustered random sampling, 80 churchgoers from St. Stephen\u27s Parish were selected. The respondents were asked to answer two kinds of tests: 16 Personality Factor test, to know the personality trend of the churchgoers and a 20-item self-constructed questionnaire to determine their religiosity. The one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to find out if there were significant differences in religiosity among the churchgoers according to sex and educational attainment while the Pearson r was employed in correlating the personality traits and religiosity. Results showed that the churchgoers are sober, practical and shrewd. Moreover, at .05 level of significance, the results of the one-way ANOVA indicated that there is no significant difference in the religiosity of the churchgoers. It was also found out that there are correlations between religiosity and personality traits but their correlations, which ranged from +0.3 to -0.3, are only minimal
