Adopting capability maturity model integration (CMMI) technology in a Philippine organization

The advent of Software Process Improvement triggered the development of International Standards, Guidelines, Capability Maturity Models, and Appraisal Methods to collect the best practices for and by industries worldwide. The development evolved to the Software Capability Maturity Model (SW-CMM), which was very attractive to organizations of different industry types. The benefits gained from this model motivated the development for other CMMs, which later had to be integrated resulting to the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI). Since the birth of SW-CMM and CMMI, organizations worldwide have been keen in the adoption of the technology including third world countries. In the Philippines, however, the technology has not been fully embraced considering that it is a target for offshore software development. It is in this light that the research is to be conducted. The implementation of a tailored SCAMPI Class A will be the channel used to gather information in identifying the factors that influence the adoptability of CMMI technology based on a Philippine company. The findings and results of the research study will be advantageous to Philippine organization, organizations planning for process improvement, prospective internal appraisers, Philippine information Technology industry, and Software Engineering Institute (SEI)
