Perceived leadership behavior of three secondary principals in Antique and its relation to faculty morale in the school

This investigates out whether the two dimensions of the principal\u27s managerial leadership behavior, namely: organizational leadership and interpersonal leadership are significantly related to faculty morale in the school.This is a correlation study of the perceived leadership behavior of principals of three secondary schools in the province of Antique, namely: Dao Catholic High School in Dao St. Therese\u27s High School in Casay, Anini-y and St. Vincent High School in Remegio. The subjects are the secondary teachers of the three Catholic schools. The instrument used was based on the study conducted by Bro. Antero on the Relationship Between the Perceived Managerial Behavior of Secondary Principals and Faculty Morale of Five Selected Schools in Batangas Province. It was pre-tested and validated by Bro. Antero at the Novist\u27s School in Paranaque.The following are the findings of the study:1) The higher are the principal\u27s rating on the organizational leadership behavior scale, the higher is his rating on the interpersonal leadership behavior as well as faculty morale in the school. This further indicates that the older the teacher, the higher the rating and the younger the teacher, the lower the rating.2) The higher the principal\u27s rating on the organizational leadership behavior scale the higher the rating of faculty morale in the school. This significant relationship indicates also that approximately 98.38 percent of the variation of differences are accounted for by the level of organizational leadership behavior exercised by the principal in the school. 3) The higher the principal\u27s rating on the interpersonal leadership behavior, the higher is the rating of faculty morale existing in the school. This high and significant relationship indicates that approximately 97.27 percent of the variation of the differences of the perceived faculty morale could be explained by the level of interpersonal leadership behavior that a principal exercises.4) The higher the rating a principal receives on the organizational leadership scale, the higher is his rating in the interpersonal leadership behavior scale. This implies that approximately 98.38 percent of the principal\u27s relative standing on the organizational leadership scale is accounted for his relative standing on the interpersonal leadership behavior.5) The correlation between the principal\u27s organizational leadership behavior and faculty morale is not significantly different from the correlation between the principal\u27s interpersonal leadership behavior and faculty morale. This further indicates that the principal\u27s rating on the organizational leadership behavior scale is as good as his rating in the interpersonal leadership behavior scale in predicting faculty morale.The study concluded that generally, the teachers perceived their principal\u27s managerial leadership behavior and interpersonal leadership behavior to be average
