Dr. Kilgore, the first MSU Professor Emerita of Home Economics, was born in 1922 in Oktibbeha County, Mississippi. Kilgore first began her career at Mississippi State as a Chemist in the Petroleum Products Laboratory from 1953 to 1956. After receiving her Master\u27s degree in Chemistry, she moved to Lloyd-Ricks and became an Assistant Home Economist from 1956 to 1968. After earning her PhD, she was promoted to Professor of Home Economics in 1969. Kilgore loved teaching and also did many research studies, including studies in nutrition.
