This black and white picture postcard features a group of people gathered on the front entrance steps to the Mississippi Governor\u27s mansion. The group includes two women and seven men. Another man is seated in a chair on the porch area behind the group. The handwritten title in the upper left identifies the group as Jackson Bryan Day Reception Committee. The donor of this collection has described the people as Bryan Day Reception Committee with William J. Bryan and James K. Vardaman on steps of Governor\u27s Mansion, with Congressman John Sharp Williams sitting in chair in background, September 1906. Williams gave the best speech of the day, it was reported. Vardaman dressed in white with black hat. The back of the postcard identifies the item as a postcard and provides indication for address placement. A green one cent postage stamp is placed in the upper right corner and the card is postmarked Jackson, Mississippi, October 17, 1906.
