Epidemiological analysis of toxicity associated with the use of pesticides in Benítez parish.

Los plaguicidas son productos químicos, naturales o sintéticos, y han sido utilizados desde hace varios años atrás cuando el hombre tuvo la necesidad de proteger sus cultivos de la invasión de plagas; sin embargo, actualmente el uso de los pesticidas supone riesgo en la salud al ocasionar diversas enfermedades. Mediante un estudio descriptivo de corte transversal se obtuvieron datos a través de encuestas realizadas a miembros de dos asociaciones agrícolas pertenecientes a la parroquia Benítez en el cantón Pelileo, las cuales han estado expuestos directamente a pesticidas, lo que ha generado infecciones como bronquitis y en otros familiares discapacidad intelectual. La toxicidad asociada al uso de pesticidas ha afectado a la población estudiada debido a la constante exposición desde hace años.Pesticides are chemicals, natural or synthetic, and have been used for several years when man needed protect his crops from pest invasion.
