In Ecuador, hydropower exceeds 90% of electrical energy and the Paute Integral Hydroelectric Complex is the most important in electricity generation. Given the characteristics of the infrastructure of this complex, the Medium-Term Hydrothermal Dispatch (MTHD) is of utmost importance, since it would allow establishing operational rules that would undoubtedly affect the total cost of generation of the country's electricity system. This is why two MTHD studies are presented: the first study is probabilistic with stochastic variables for the inflows to the complex's dams and for the load to be served.
