THE EFFECT OF COOPERATIVE INTEGRATED READING COMPOSITION (CIRC) TECHNIQUE TOWARD STUDENT READING COMPREHENSION ON RECOUNT TEXT AT GRADE VIII MTS NURUL IMAN ULU GEDONG

In English learning,there were four basic skills they are speaking, listening,reading, and writing. Speaking and writing are productive skills, reading and listening are receptive skills. Reading is an activity for setting information and meaning of the text in the language. As one of the language skills, reading is an important skill for English language learners. There are some reasons why it is very necessary, it can help the students enchance their knowledge because they can learn many things through reading. The problem of this research were firstly, the students had limited vocabulary knowledge. Secondly students have low interest and motivation in reading. Third, students think that the reading material they read has no connection with the actual word. Fourth, reading technique that have been applied by the teacher still uses old techniques without collaboration in the learning by the teacher. The purpose of this research was to know the significant effect of using the Cooperative Integrated Reading Composition Technique Toward Students Reading Comprehension On Recount Text at grade VIII pi MTS Nurul Iman Ulu Gedong. The population of this research were 54 students. There were class VIII pi to give experiment the used samole totaling 28 sampling. Based on the result of this research the mean score in pre-test was 63,21 and the mean score in post-test 79,10 (79,10> 63,21). At the degree of freedom 27 an a level significant 5%. Value of table is 2.052 while the value of the t-test is 0,54 (0,54≥2,052). It showed Hi is accepted and Ho is rejected. Therefore, the researcher suggested for English teacher to use Cooperative integrated reading composition (CIRC) technique in teaching reading comprehension, especially in teaching of reading comprehension on recount text
