THE EFFECT OF USING LISTEN READ DISCUSS (LRD) STRATEGY IN READING COMPREHENSION AT TENTH GRADE IN PONDOK PESANTREN TARBIYAH ISLAMIYAH TANJUNG AGUNG

This research was aims to analyze or found the effect using LRD (listen-read-discuss) strategy. This research was conducted on the students of class X Pondok Pesantren Tarbiyah Islamiyah Tanjung Agung . the background of the problem in this study is that students could not understand the text well. Therefore researcher use the listen read discuss strategy to improve students’ understanding in reading. In this research used the quasi experiment design, which total of the sample was 60 students that chosen through purposive sampling technique. writer used 2 class that is class X A as experiments class and class XB as control class. Treatment was given 8 times for both classes. The material taught is narrative text. The instrument used is written test in the form of multiple choice amounting to 20 items. At the end of the meeting, the researcher give the post test. The final mean score gained from both classes was analyzed by using t-test with significant level a= 0.05. the results of the research show that there is a significant influence by using LRD strategy in reading learning. It can be seen at paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test. The result of the average students’ reading score from the same group who taught by Listen Read Discuss strategy got score 0.000 which can be seen from criteria of hypothesis if the score lower than 0.05 it means Ha is accepted. And the result of independent sample t-test shows that the mean of difference was 1.591 and the significant 2-tailed ≤0.05 (0.001≤0.005).so the researcher can conclude that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. It mean that there is significant effect of using LRD strategy reading comprehension at tenth grade Pondok Pesantren Tarbiyah Islamiyah Tanjung Agung
